ICT PrEP is a streamlined service for those seeking to start PrEP medication to prevent the transmission of HIV, human immunodeficiency virus. Through our growing provider directory, you will be able to access full services of testing and treatment in an easy, no-strings-attached, cost-saving process. Our goal with ICT PrEP is to get you tested and on medication as soon as possible.


How does this program work?

No matter where you are at in your PrEP journey, ICT PrEP provides complete services for you - whether its testing or treatment.


  • You will first get a preliminary blood draw at Positive Directions to screen for any initial STIs.


  • After the initial bloodwork is complete, you will be screened for renal (kidney) functioning through our partnering agencies. At this point, you will receive your PrEP prescription in an all-in-one visit.


  • Every three months, you will receive appropriate follow-up care to ensure that PrEP medication is effective and right for you.


  • If eligible, you will have the option to fill your prescription at Community Walgreens where professionally trained pharmacists can help you identify financial assistance for your prescription.

What is PrEP?

Pre Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a prescription pill taken daily to help protect against the transmission of HIV. If you do get exposed, PrEP will stop the virus from moving throughout your body. There are currently 2 FDA approved PrEP medications:

  • Truvada


How effective is PrEP?

When taken as prescribed:

  • From sex: reduces transmission risk by 99%
  • From injection drug use: reduces transmission risk by 74%


Who should take PrEP?

PrEP is reccomended to be taken by Individuals who:

  • Tested negative for HIV
  • Have sexual partner(s) who are HIV positive
  • Share needles, syringes, or other injection drug equipment
  • Have vaginal or anal sex with inconsistent condom use
  • Have been diagnosed with an STI within the past 6 months
  • Have taken multiple courses of PEP


How much does PrEP cost?

Most insurances partially or fully cover the cost of PrEP. There are numerous programs to help with the cost, and some even help you get it for free. ICT PrEP is a program to get you started on PrEP in a cost-effective, expedited manner.


What's the difference between PrEP and PEP?

PrEP is taken daily to protect against possible HIV exposure.

PEP, or Post Exposure Prophylaxis, is used for emergency situations. It can be taken up to 72 hours after possible HIV exposure.


Can I use my doctor that I already see?

Yes! ICT PrEP is here to make starting PrEP as easy as can be for you. We can provide consultation with you and your physician, if need be. The first step would be talking to your doctor about starting PrEP.


Does PrEP cure HIV/AIDS?

No. PrEP is intended to be used by those who have tested negative for HIV. If you have received a HIV+ diagnosis, consult our providers to get started on anti-retroviral therapy (ART) to sustainably control and manage the virus.


How often do I take PrEP?

PrEP is taken once daily.


Can I transmit other STIs if I am on PrEP?

Yes. PrEP is intented to protect you from HIV. Other STIs such as Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Hepatitis C can still be transmitted even if you are taking PrEP as prescribed.
